Digital Accessibility Commitment

The Downtown Development Authority is committed to pursuing digital accessibility. This means constantly improving accessibility by integrating accessibility practices into our design and development processes. We aim to make our website usable by as many people as possible, ensuring it is compatible with assistive technologies and adaptable to various needs.

Ongoing Accessibility Efforts

We pursue the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 as our website’s standard. These are a comprehensive set of guidelines which include recommendations and best practices for making the internet more accessible. We continually check and revise our website’s content and features for WCAG 2.2 level AA compliance

Our ongoing efforts include:

  • Regular accessibility audits and continuous improvements based on their results
    • These audits include industry-standard tools such as the Accessibility Checker plugin, screen readers, keyboard navigation, and color contrast analysis
  • Use of standard accessibility practices to enhance user experience
  • Design and development that considers accessibility from the start

Accessibility Features

The following are some of the ways we’ve made our website more accessible:

  • A design that features responsiveness for desktop, tablet, and mobile viewports
  • High contrast and readable font choices to enhance legibility
  • Appropriate alternative text for images and other non-text elements
  • Navigation aids such as skip-to-content buttons and structured markup for assistive technologies
